Donald Duncan
Choirmaster and Artistic Director
With more than 25 years of experience as an organist and choirmaster, Donald W. Duncan serves as the founding director and the Artistic Director and Choirmaster of the Church Street Choral Academy. Donald W. Duncan also serves as Director of Liturgy and Music at Christ Church (Episcopal) in Greenville, South Carolina, where he manages and coordinates the many musical and liturgical offerings of a large and active 4,000 member parish. He conducts the semi-professional Christ Church Parish Choir and supervises a departmental staff with nearly 400 volunteers involved in liturgy and music.
He holds the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Lyon College, and the Master of Music degree in Sacred Music from the University of Memphis. His professional affiliations include the Royal School of Church Music, the American Guild of Organists, and the Organ Historical Society.
Sarah Marczynski
Program Coordinator for Christ Church
Sarah Marczynski serves as the Program Coordinator for both Christ Church’s Music and Liturgy Department and the Church Street Choral Academy. She holds a Master’s of Public Administration focusing in Nonprofit Management and a Bachelor’s of Music Education, both from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Before moving to Greenville, Sarah served as the Director of Music Events at Lee University and as the Community Engagement & Education Manager at the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, both in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Sarah is a choral singer, singing in the Christ Church Schola Cantorum and in S.C. Bach and loves working with young musicians. She has served on the board of the Chattanooga Boys Choir and grant panels throughout the Southeastern region.
Mary Ann Thompson
Piano Teacher
Mary Ann Thompson, a graduate of Baylor University and former Elementary Music Instructor for Midway schools in Waco, Texas, retired after 35 years, teaching voice, piano lab, and Kodaly & Orff instruction. After moving to Greenville, she joined Christ Church Episcopal with her husband, Howard, in 2017 and works with the children’s music program on Wednesday evenings & Children’s Sabbath on Sunday mornings. She wrote & directed the children’s choir presentation for the Creative Arts Camp in 2022 and continues to be presently active as a private piano teacher in Greenville. Mrs. Thompson (Miss Mary Ann) is excited to be part of the inaugural Church Street Choral Academy piano lab and looks forward to meeting and working with her new students.
Cara Horn
Music Theory Teacher
Cara Horn is a lifelong church musician, having started playing keyboard on a church worship team at age 12. Ever since then, she has either been behind the piano, or in the choir in churches nearly every week! Cara earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from Houghton University, and has many years of experience teaching piano lessons. She has also been leading the children’s choir at Christ Church for 9 years.
Jeremiah Jackson
Program Day Assistant
Jeremiah Jackson is a Graduate from High Point Academy and shares a passion for music as well as Musical Theater. He enjoys working with kids and is looking forward to seeing students excel as they grow and expand their knowledge to the next level.
